How to Export Email Messages and Contacts from Windows Live Mail to MS Outlook

With the increasing demand for Microsoft Outlook, the users are rapidly switching from Windows Live Mail (WLM) to Outlook, which is a free mail client installed on Windows systems. When a user decides to perform migration, he requires getting all WLM email messages and other data to Outlook. Moving Emails from WLM to Outlook

Perform the following steps:

Step 1: Start MS Outlook.

Step 2: Click ‘Contacts’ folder.

Step 3: Click ‘Export’, and then select ‘comma separated values (.CSV)’.

Step 4: A CSV Export window will appear; click on ‘Browse’ and select Desktop folder.

Step 5: In the ‘File Name’ field, type ‘WLMContacts’ and click ‘Save’.

Step 6: Click ‘Next’ button and select the fields that have to be exported.

Step 7: Click ‘Finish’ and wait until the process completes. Note that the time taken by the process depends on the number of contacts.

Step 8: Close Windows Live Mail.

Step 9: Start MS Outlook.

Step 10: Select ‘Contacts’ folder, go to the ‘File’ menu, select ‘Open’, and then click ‘Import’.

Step 11: Select ‘Import from another program or file’ and click ‘Next’.

Step 12: Select ‘Comma Separated Values (Windows)’.

Step 13: Click ‘Next’.

Step 14: Click ‘Browse’ and select ‘WLMContacts’ that you exported and saved in Desktop folder. Click ‘Open’.

Step 15: Click ‘Next’. Check that the ‘Contacts’ folder is selected; if not, select it and click ‘Next’.
Step 16: Click ‘Finish’ and wait until the process is finished.

You are now able to use all Windows Live Mail email messages and contacts in MS Outlook. However, it is important to note that the given procedures might fail in some circumstances.
